Dr. Gwen DuBois
I had heard about United Workers because of their success organizing Camden Yard workers to get a living wage as they built the stadium. In the past few years I began to work along with United Workers and Free Your Voice students at Benjamin Franklin High School/ Curtis Bay in multi-year successful struggle to stop the construction of a 1 billion dollar polluting incinerator. Along the way the students were transformed by the power of organizing for their right to environmental justice. Now United Workers have gotten enough signatures to have a Fair Housing Initiative on our ballot in November in Baltimore City. I joyfully join the walk ( maybe next year I can talk them into a bicycle event) and use this as an opportunity to help me raise money for United Workers working to make Baltimore a fairer, more just and transparent city.
